Wanted: Gallery of the Arts Curator
Spring Semester only, $350.00 scholarship - renewable annually
Reports to: Faculty Advisor
Position open until filled.
This is a unique and new position with the magazine. The applicant will be responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of the annual Gallery of the Arts exhibit and winners' reception to be held in April 2018. Job duties include:
In collaboration with the Art Director and the Technical Theatre Manager, the Curator will design the overall exhibit, including layouts, lighting and any other additional effects to be used in the gallery space
Will coordinate the planning of the winners' reception/gallery opening event including selection of catering, thematic elements, decoration and overall structure of the event
Will coordinate with the webmaster, Art Director and Publications Director to notify guests, manage RSVPs and other items associated with the Gallery opening.
Provides additional support to the magazine, including working events, promotion and campus wide engagement of the student body
Regularly attends all staff meetings of the Odyssey
Must be currently registered Lake-Sumter State College Student taking at least six credit hours. GPA 2.0 and higher. Preferred: 3.0 and higher. Must possess design skills or demonstrate previous experience working with art, photography, literature or other aspect of the arts in a gallery, exhibit or similar setting. We are willing to teach the right candidate! Must be available with reliable transportation for events in the spring semester.
Gallery design, event planning, art design, theatrical and staging experience, lighting technology or similar training in associated aspects of the arts are welcomed and encouraged.
